PROGRAM DETAILS

The YFI weekend consisted of a series of presentations, discussions, and workshops in a student filmmaking boot camp designed to take students from concept to film over the institute weekend. All students were assigned to a project team of five to six members, and participants collaborated with their teammates through all workshop sessions in the creation of a single short film. Each team was mentored by a W&M Film & Media Studies undergrad representative who oversaw the workshops and assisted in the production of the group video project.

Lessons and workshops covered topics including story structure, character development, scripting, storyboarding, and video production. Students spent the second day of the YFI working hands-on with professional video equipment in the creation of a group project short film.

WHERE & WHEN

All workshops and presentations took place in the Reeder Media Center, on the ground floor of the Earl Greg Swem Library at the College of William & Mary.
