The YFI weekend consists of a series of presentations, discussions, and workshops in a student filmmaking boot camp designed to take students from concept to film over the institute weekend. All students are assigned to a small project group and participants collaborate with their teammates through all workshop sessions in the creation of a single short film. Each team is mentored by a W&M Film & Media Studies undergrad representative who oversees the workshops and assists in the production of the group video project.
Returning lessons and workshops will cover topics including story structure, character development, scripting, storyboarding, and video production. In addition, the YFI 2018 program will include several new specialized workshops intended for returning or experienced participants featuring improv for actors, green screen use, live multi-camera video switching, and more! Students spent the second day of the YFI working hands-on with professional video equipment in the creation of a group project short film.
WHERE & WHEN
All workshops and presentations will take place in the Reeder Media Center, on the ground floor of the Earl Greg Swem Library at the College of William & Mary.
