The 2020 YFI weekend consists of a series of virtual presentations and Q&A sessions in a student filmmaking boot camp designed to take students from concept to film over the institute weekend. The workshops are led by current W&M Film & Media Studies students.
SESSION 1: WRITING
Saturday, Nov. 7, 2:00-3:00 PM, Live Q&A 3:00-3:30 PM
This session will introduce students to the writing process for film and will cover topics such as scriptwriting, storyboarding, characters, genres, and story arc.
SESSION 2: EDITING
Saturday, Nov. 7, 4:00-5:00 PM, Live Q&A 5:00-5:30 PM
This session will introduce students to the editing process and will cover topics such as software basics, titles & graphics, logging footage, and special effects.
SESSION 3: PRODUCTION
Sunday, Nov. 8, 2:00-3:00 PM, Live Q&A 3:00-3:30 PM
This session will introduce students to film production and will cover topics such as camera equipment, camera shots, recording audio, and lighting.
SESSION 4: FILM SET
Sunday Nov. 8, 4:00-5:00 PM, Live Q&A 5:00-5:30 PM
This session will introduce students to a film set and will cover topics such as workflow, roles on a film set, costuming, and continuity.
